Those of you who have been coming to Movers and Shakers for a while will know that this is the first time we have put up prices for nearly 4 years. Unfortunately with all our costs increasing we can’t delay it any more. We pride ourselves on being cheaper than our competitors and maintaining the high quality of our classes. I hope you will agree that this is still the case!
New prices as follows:
Single session: £4.50
Pre-pay card: £22.50 (6 sessions, don’t need to be consecutive)
No change to sibling prices:
Sibling: £3 for a single session; £15 for a pre-pay card
We like to keep as many Movers and Shakers classes as possible running throughout the long summer holiday. This year we have our busiest summer programme ever. Below is a full list of all the classes running from 21 July until 5 September.
The bookings system has been updated, so now you can book only those classes that we are planning to run. However, please note that if we don’t receive a minimum of three bookings for a class, then we will cancel the session.
It’s more important than ever to book your place, so we know that there is a demand for the session.

We are delighted to announce that Movers and Shakers has been shortlisted for a Loved by Parents Award. We have a chance of being named Best Baby/Toddler Group 2014!
Winning this award would mean a great deal to us at Movers and Shakers. Could we possibly ask you to take a few minutes to show your appreciation for us by visiting the Loved by Parents website and voting for Movers and Shakers? We will be grateful for every vote we receive. As we are one of only five groups on the shortlist, we have a real chance of scooping the top prize.
Choose “Special Awards” from the drop-down list of categories
Type “Best Baby/Toddler Group” in the category name box
Type “Movers and Shakers” in the company name box.
Finally (unless you want to vote in other categories) scroll down to the bottom of the form to submit your vote.
Voting closes at midnight on the 29th of June. It would be simply lovely if we could start July by announcing that Movers and Shakers had won a Loved by Parents Gold Award!
Movers and Shakers really is loved by parents. We keep our prices low and offer flexible class-by-class booking. Our discounted six-session loyalty cards can be used at any class at any time within your home area. Our online booking system is easy to use and guarantees your child a place at the class of your choice.
We know that babies and young children instinctively like to play and explore; at Movers and Shakers we give every child the opportunity to sing along, play a musical instrument, explore the parachute and get lost in a world of bubbles. Sessions take place at libraries, social clubs, cafés and other family-friendly venues.
Loved by Parents is a family-focused online parenting magazine offering features, reviews, recipes and advice on all things loved by parents. Here’s where you can find the full list of nominees for the awards.
Some of our classes are fully booked weeks ahead. It can be frustrating when you really want to come to a group and you can’t get a place for another month. So we wanted to let you all know that it is possible to join a WAITING LIST for any group that is fully booked – we often get cancellations on the morning of the class, if babies have a bad night or wake up poorly. And then we send messages round to anyone who has expressed an interest in coming to that class.
Please don’t join a waiting list unless there is a really good chance you’ll be able to attend, and keep us up to date if you make other plans. Also – keep your phone handy on the morning of the class as usually we’ll send a text message to let you know you have a space. So, if you’d like to join a waiting list for any of our fully booked sessions here is how to get in touch with us.
Movers and Shakers is having a break over Christmas and New Year 2013/2014.
There will be no classes from Monday 23 December until Sunday 5 January inclusive. We’ve now removed all these sessions from our bookings timetable.
Outside of these dates classes will run as usual. If you have already booked for classes during our Christmas break then you should have received an email from us letting you know that those classes aren’t running!
If your little ones would like to Move and Shake during the Christmas break, then why not get together with some friends and book us to come and do a special Christmas party for you? It’s only £80 for up to 20 children, and we’ll come to your home or any venue of your choice. Here’s how to get in touch with us.
Well, the big news is that we have a funky new website! I hope that the transition has been smooth and you have found your way to our new bookings page. If there are any glitches in bookings over the next week then I hope you’ll forgive us – it’s been quite a project to set it all up at the new site!
The contact details you now need for all the Ally Pally classes (which includes Crouch End, Muswell Hill, Bowes Park, Stroud Green and Highgate) are as follows:
texts and calls to Gabi: 07817 420392
emails to Gabi, including party bookings:
general emails – e.g. bookings and cancellations:
We are concurrently launching our first franchise, Barnet and Southgate, which also covers classes in North Finchley. If you attend classes in the Barnet and Southgate area and you have found your way here by accident, then please visit this page.
We are coming up to Christmas and will need to make some timetable adjustments. We are working on these right now, and will post a Christmas Holiday Timetable on this website soon – so please keep an eye out for it. If anyone has already booked for classes that won’t be running (and I have spotted a few bookings for our Hornsey Library class on Christmas Day!) then of course we will be in touch by email.
Lots of our classes have become increasingly popular – how wonderful! Some sessions are even taking bookings into January. I’m delighted that you are all being so organised, and making sure that you are guaranteed a place at our most popular classes. Just make sure you keep a note of the classes you have booked for – especially if you are booking far in advance. Although we sometimes send out reminders the day before, we don’t always have time. I’m sure you’d rather not receive one of those stern emails we send out each month to ‘no shows’.
And please remember that if you need to cancel, even if it’s at the last minute, that’s absolutely fine. Just send me a text (07817 420392) or email us at and remember to include your child’s name and the venue.
We are delighted to announce the launch of our new Movers and Shakers website for the Alexandra Palace area.
This website covers classes in Ally Pally, Crouch End, Stroud Green, Highgate, Muswell Hill and Bowes Park. It contains information about when and where classes in the local area take place.
It also includes a booking page where you can reserve a place at any of our classes. We do not take payment over the Internet – you pay the teacher at the class, either by cash or cheque or by letting the teacher mark off one session on your six-session loyalty card.
Movers and Shakers is run as an independent franchise in several geographical areas. Each area has its own separate site where you can find out more about the classes in that area and who is in charge. You will also be able to use the website to book any class within that area.
On our central site you will find general information about Movers and Shakers, including our history, the background to our classes and the philosophy that underpins our work. Our central site also includes a guide to where in the country Movers and Shakers sessions are currently taking place.
We hope you enjoy using our new websites – we promise to keep it updated and to listen to any feedback you have.
